China Telecom Canada Launches Heartwarming Freshmen Welcome Event at Airport

To better promote China Telecom CTExcel products and boost the brand image, China Telecom seised the peak moment of students returning to campus by participating in the freshmen welcome event organised by the University of British Columbia on August 14 – 24, 2021. The event has achieved remarkable results, with the total number of students contacted far exceeding the target number.

The event was targeted at international new students when they first arrived in Canada, including first-year students from the University of British Columbia, Simon Fraser University, and the University of Victoria. Participating China Telecom staff played the role of senior guides, helping first-year students to receive a China Telecom CTExcel SIM card and activate it on the spot.

According to the on-site survey, half of the first-year students have already participated in the "One Canadian Dollar" Promotion and got a CTExcel SIM card before departing to Canada. They used it as soon as they landed without worrying about losing connection with their families. The remaining first-year students who did not have a Canadian SIM card were introduced to the "One Canadian Dollar" Promotion. They received a CTExecl SIM card for free to ensure they had a phone card to use even during their quarantine period. The event concluded with great success, building a good reputation and brand image of China Telecom Canada among international students in Canada.
